Band Practice

Do you love playing tunes? Why not join our ceilidh band? We play at our twice termly ceilidhs and also at external gigs. We practise on Mondays at either 7:00pm or 8:30pm (see below) in the Woods-Scawen room (located on the bottom floor of the Arts Center). Any instrument or ability is welcome; you can use our sheet music, learn by ear or just have fun playing harmony, as well as bring your own sets for us to try out.

Session session session session session!

If you haven’t played enough tunes by the end of band practice, every odd numbered week we move to the Dirty Duck at 8:30 on Monday for a good old session. It’s a perfect opportunity to improve your playing by ear, a great place to play music if you don’t want to join the ceilidh band, a chance to combine drinking and folk, and the place to bring tunes you don’t think would suit band practice. Hopefully there will be enough tunes and beer to suit everyone.
